I m here to tell you all about this Online IVLE Learning thingy.

Task:

1. You are to complete the Pre Test on Polymerisation and submit your answers online by 17 April 2006. You are only allowed ONE attempt.

I presume its on IVLE la this test.

2. After which you are expected to do some research using both print and non-print materials and submit ur findings in the format given online by 17 April 2006.

Your report should include the following:
1. Types of polymerisation
2. Characteristics of different types of polymers, including the following

a) Characteristics of addition polymerisation using poly(ethene) and PVC as examples, giving the repeat units of each polymer

b) characteristics of condensation polymerisation using Terylene, peptides, proteins, nylon 6 and nylon 66 as examples, giving the repeat units of each polymer.

3. List some problems related to the disposal of poly(alkene)s, i.e. Non-biodegradability and harmful combustion products.

Report 2

Your report should include the following:

1. The characteristic properties of the performance gear made from the latest high-tech polymers - Kelvar

2. The monomers for making the polymer, the type of polymer Kelvar belongs and other uses of Kelvar.

Here i m not too sure if this needs to be done. I am asking Ms Ooi about it but i tink its safer to do both bah lol. Hope there is enuf time for u all to do.

Note: There is organic chem class test on week 7.
